Team Unbreakable Run/Walk Events

CameronHelps organizes run/walk events to encourage family and community participation, helping bring people closer to the issues, raising awareness and helping reduce the stigma of mental illness. The organization holds its signature Unbreakable Father’s 5K  walk/run in Port Credit each year. It also partners with the Halton and Peel School boards (Catholic and Public) to organize a fall run, called the Bold and Cold, and a Mother’s Day weekend run event for the Halton school boards. It has also developed a partnership program with the annual May Mississauga Marathon as one of its selected charities.

Seminars – Corporate, Community & Organization

This is a speaking program intended for a variety of community-based audiences to raise awareness and help reduce stigma. The presentation can be customized for a specific audience area of interest, or for a local CameronHelps chapter to add its own local content.  It can also provide educational content of particular interest to parents and educators.

safeTALK training course

Presented by Jennifer Brighton, MSW, RSW, safeTALK is a three hour alertness workshop that prepares anyone over the age of 15, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. Most people with thoughts of suicide don’t want to die, but are struggling with the pain in their lives. Through their words and actions, they invite help to stay live; safeTALK-trained helpers can recognize these invitations and take action by connecting them, with life-saving intervention resources.
